Our Client is a safety and environmental consulting business that specializes in providing a wide range of services to corporations across the United States including safety training, compliance consulting, process safety management, engineering and more.
We are looking for a strong leader and motivated finance professional that is willing to grow into the role of controller and eventually CFO. This is an excellent opportunity to establish yourself with a growing concern.

  • 7 years’ relevant experience

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Junior Controller position requires working closely with our client’s executive leadership and production staff, in order to meet customer expectations and to achieve company objectives.  The vision for the role is growth to controller, and ultimately to the executive position of CFO.  Specifically, the Accounting and Administrative Manager will hold a key role in strategic growth planning while maintaining necessary internal controls for fiscal integrity (i.e. they will “roll-up-their-sleeves” and be a “creative thinker”).

REQUIRED EDUCATION & SKILLS
  • This position requires either a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administrative and 5-years of related experience or 15 years-experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Essentially critical thinking is a requirement.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of accounting software (such as QuickBooks), Microsoft Office, with advanced knowledge of Excel, project management and CRM software.
  • Ability to work well with others, and utilize communication strategies for conflict resolution where conflict arises.  As a small company, teamwork is critical to growth.  The Assistant Controller is a valuable and culture-creating/promoting team member at our client, as such, communication and leadership skills are imperative.
