PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the $15m TICTF re-development project to ensure the project is completed on time and under budget while partnering with the Port of Los Angeles (POLA )to ensure no disruptions or extra costs to daily operations. 
  • Develop Maintenance and Repair (M&R) strategy.  Provide recommendations for short and long-term strategies, priorities, policies and programs to enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency in M&R department; develop policies, procedures, tactics and metrics.
  • Oversee maintenance and repair operations to ensure vendor, Pacific Crane Maintenance Company (PCMC) exceeds service levels on equipment uptime to support terminal operations while meeting budgeted costs in addition to managing chassis and reefer repair operations to achieve budgeted revenues.
  • Manage and meet operational budget for M&R, engage PCMC to manage mechanic headcount for OUR CLIENT.
  • Set and maintain performance criteria for administration of the information technology (IT) plan to include support of daily operations while also developing a strategic vision for future systems implementations to improve safety, increase efficiency and reduce costs. 
  • Provide guidance and direction to the business process function to ensure proper alignment with the operations department to achieve improved processes to reduce ILWU labor costs while improving vessel, rail and yard productivity in addition to reducing trucker turn-time. 
  • Oversee all vendors associated with the support of M&R, Business Process and IT departments to ensure lowest cost while also holding these vendors accountable to defined service levels. 
  • Responsible for establishing positive working relationships, to include consistent communication and collaboration, with appropriate Corporate Departments for the achievement of the mutual goals of the organization.
  • Responsible for representing OUR CLIENT with appropriate external stakeholders including but not limited to the Port of Los Angeles, federal and state government regulatory agencies, contractors and customers as necessary. 
  • Member of the OUR CLIENT Senior leadership team responsible for setting and executing the strategic direction of OUR CLIENT Los Angeles.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • The minimum qualifications required for this position include a Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 10+ year’s business management experience with at least 5 years managing teams.  An MBA or other relevant advanced degree is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate should have a high level of communication and organizational skills in addition to the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.  He or she requires the ability to lead and develop others while also partnering with peers to deliver the objectives of the terminal.
  • The ideal candidate should have strong verbal, written and presentation skills; and have the ability to effectively develop relationships.
