Line Crew Supervisor/ Vegetation Management Consultant

The Griffin Groupe is sourcing Line Crew Supervisors for a valued energy client in Southern California.  This is an excellent opportunity to work with a $10B+ company that has been servicing customers for over 100 years. Come work for a team committed to creating smarter grids & cleaner energy. 
This consulting engagement is for a 1.5 year project+. Candidates must be able to relocate in or near Rosemead, CA for the duration of the project.

  • The Vegetation Management Specialist position is in the Vegetation Management team under the Construction Support within Distribution Business Line of the Transmission & Distribution organization.
  • This position will provide vegetation operational coverage across multiple districts and transmission regions during implementation and finalization of specialized projects to guarantee compliance.
  • The successful candidate will provide in-depth analysis, timely decision-making, consulting, and at times providing directions to customer, company representatives, and local and state fire agencies concerning issues regarding biological or archeological concerns.
  • Coordinating hazard tree removal operations on the Drought Removal Initiative (DRI) program within the Shaver Lake area.
  • Coordinating hazard tree removal operations on USFS land within the Sierra National Forest with USFS personnel.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with Line Clearance Technical and Non-Technical Specifications, ANSI A300, CPUC GO 95 Rule 35, and PRC 4292 and 4293.
  • Provide Technical support to contractors. Coordinate environmental and regulatory compliance in cooperation with state and federal organizations.
  • Respond with urgency to public safety concerns. Inspect transmission and distribution systems for vegetation relation compliance and QA.
  • Maintain two-way communication with governmental agencies.
  • Participate in annual coordination of joint Client Company/fire agency line patrols to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations in extreme and very high threat fire areas.
  • Provide accountability and focus to comply with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Meet with crews and resolve permissioning issues. Maintain local Client Company Planning and
  • Operations relationships. Support special projects and storm response.
  • Provide support for routine line clearance operations as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of CPUC GO 95 Rule 35, PRC 4292 and 4293, and environmental habitat areas.
  • Demonstrated experience performing tree risk assessment.
  • Understanding and ability to read overhead circuit maps.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating on cross-functional teams to meet objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience to managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated experience recommending cost effective solutions both verbally and in written correspondence.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients’ business needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, management, and vendors to successfully meet shifting needs.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing information, identifying needs, developing action plans, and providing recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and accountability for results.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
