The Griffin Groupe is sourcing Data Analytics professionals for a valued energy client in Southern California.  This is an excellent opportunity to work with a $10B+ company that has been servicing customers for over 100 years. Candidates must be able to relocate in or near Rosemead, CA for the duration of the project.
  • 10 years experience as a data scientist or equivalent

The Senior Data Analyst of Audit Services Data Analytics will report to the Senior Manager of Data Analytics and Cybersecurity/IT Audits.  The ideal candidate will be a leader who is not afraid to drive change and continuous improvement.  This position leverages technical skills to manage build and drive the internal data analytics function for internal audit and ultimately other governance, risk and compliance (GRC) functions.  The individual will work closely with the Senior Manager of Data Analytics and Cybersecurity & IT Audits to design and execute strategy.   ASD is a great place to build your career by learning the business and developing relationships across the organization. The role is responsible for providing the Audit Department and other departments with similar functions with Data Analytics services that focuses primarily on supporting the performance of internal audit projects.
  • Leading Data Analytics Projects and gathering and analyzing complex and large amounts of data for supporting ongoing audit projects, investigations, and management requests.
  • Organizing, segregating, and manipulating raw data into a format acceptable to perform analysis and modeling, and utilizes advanced tools and techniques to perform these necessary data transformations.
  • Acts as key resource or consultant to department management, customers, and client organization on specific project or issues by resolving data analytics problems or developing models for data analysis computations.
  • Support auditors (Finance, Operations, Environmental Health & Safety and IT audits) in performing in-depth and complex data analytics tasks
  • Help train the department employees on data analytics techniques
  • Helps manage and supports projects, subprojects, timelines, and resources to deliver exceptional service.
  • Collaborate with IT and other related operating units on data acquisition and technical analysis
  • Assist the department management in establishing the data analytics standard processes, and selecting standard tools and technologies.
  • Provide consultative assistance to managers and staff in the audit department and in other operating units.
  • Applies advanced analysis and modeling techniques to frame and define logic to test hypotheses and add insights into audit findings.
  • Uses software development techniques in the data analytics processes.
  • Defines data analytics output by creating compelling deliverables describing data analytics results and procedures performed.
  • Presents and communicates data analytics results and procedures performed in a coherent and effective manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain frequent contact with inter- and intra-department managers and supervisors and senior management; conduct periodic meetings with management.
  • Helps drive ASD’s strategic objectives: increasing continuous auditing: moving from sample to census methodology, automating high frequency low impact tasks, and developing predictive auditing capabilities.  
  • Supports the responsibility for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the ASD analytics process.
  • Requires close coordination with IT on the overall data analysis initiative and close coordination, and possible creation of Service Level Agreements, with other groups such as Enterprise Risk Management and Ethics and Compliance. 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Seven or more years of experience as a data scientist or data analytics related position.
  • Five or more years of experience managing large scale projects
  • Bachelor's degree in computers, computer information systems, math, or other related technical major
  • Five years of experience with data analytics functions and audit techniques; computer assisted audit techniques, statistical sampling, and audit and/or data analytics protocols
  • One or more professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or the ability to obtain such a certification within 3 years of hire.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, including developing work plans, prioritizing, and scheduling work activities to support concurrent projects
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills to effectively communicate and interact with personnel at all levels, including executive management, throughout the organization
  • Ability to work effectively and be flexible in a variety of situations, including those involving uncertainty, lack of information, and changing circumstances
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced or Master degree in applicable profession, business, or technical discipline (e.g., computer science, MBA or math)
  • Data analytics or related certification
  • Knowledge of relational database modeling and data warehousing
  • Experience with data processing tools and techniques (database querying, sql language, scripting, etc)
  • Experience with data analysis (regression, advanced modeling, SAS, etc), and dashboards and data visualization (Tableau, Power BI, SAS VA, Lumira, etc) tool and techniques
  • 5 Years of dedicated complex data analytics experience
  • Broad knowledge of typical company and department policies, objectives, strategies, and goals
  • Prior audit or risk assessment experience
